Modern vintage works here with a fresh, solid colored new rug, light floors, new pillows and freshly painted walls and floors.  This is great!  I especially love the way the art is displayed.   Hanging a collection can be tricky, and here it is treated centering the three main paintings, then using the top edges of the bottom row and the bottom edges of the top row to create a cohesive look.

Black & White Collection

This is one of my favorite groupings. I would love this in my next ‘appartement’.

No Christmas is complete without a trip to La Belle Maison, Ann Arbor, MI.  After working at the gallery, I pick a local store each evening to Christmas shop in the week before Christmas.  This is one of my favorites.  They have French and British accessories for the apartment or home, along with bath and beauty items and French jewelry.  I especially like their vintage prints (Chanel framed print in photo).  The third photo is Megan wrapping my finds…two clear glass French Spencer cups and a lovely silver Good Luck Ring.

Books, Books...Design

Love the large print on the wall…
Love the focus on books, a reader’s space!

This gut renovation of a one-bedroom apartment in the East Village was conceived to reflect the client’s love of old New York detailing married with an industrial aesthetic.  The masculine presence of reclaimed wood and copper is conterbalanced by a softer more feminine layering of drapery and lighting.

This is a simple way to be festive for the holidays.  It doesn’t take much to get into the spirit.
